Other Details to Note

Cautionary Notes (Please Read)! We do NOT accept check in or check out on holidays. Absolutely NO open fires are allowed. The risk of wildfire in the area is too high. The roads may require AWD or 4WD November through April (however it can snow in October and in May!). The roads are plowed after 6 inches of snow. You do not need a 4WD or AWD in the summer but be aware that a portion of road to the house is dirt! There is no air conditioning unit here. It is very rare in our county to have one installed in a house (even brand new builds!). The nights are cool in the summer so to cool the house off you can open all the windows and doors at night, then close them during the day and you stay cool! There are ceiling fans in each bedroom and in the living room to help circulate the cool air through the cabin. We are at 9,200 feet in elevation — altitude sickness can occur but you can do things to prevent it and alleviate symptoms including, taking a day to rest when you arrive, drink extra water and stay well hydrated (avoiding alcohol will help). You can see neighboring properties from the home but the location is very quiet and peaceful. Do not leave food outside unattended. Our local wildlife does include deer and the occasional bear, mountain lion, bobcat, and fox.

We felt right at home as soon as we entered this immaculately clean home. Everything you could possibly need was available at our disposal. The area in which it is located is situated in close proximity to many activities. We love to be out in nature so we hiked everyday and explored the surrounding towns. Cripple Creek was our favorite. Be sure to visit the donkeys in their pasture and Rita the troll. The incredible sights and sounds of God's creation is on full display. We have gone to the NC mountains for the past 20 years and made the decision to experience things out West! We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to make new memories!! What a fabulous time had by all!! Allison is a great communicator and VERY responsive. When you book this place you will not be disappointed!

We have stayed in several homes in this area and this was by far the best we’ve found. It was very clean, modern, with comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, and a nice balcony for morning tea/coffee as well as a good location for a day trip to the Fossil Beds National Monument.

This home was spotless, spacious, well-appointed, and comfortable. It even smelled fresh without being perfumed, which is great for someone sensitive to scent. Deserving of superhost status with many thoughtful touches anticipating guest needs. We booked quickly for a spontaneous trip and were so relieved to find such a welcoming and accommodating place. Check-in was clear and easy, and checkout requirements weren’t overbearing. This is how rental homes should be if they want to compete with the convenience of hotels. Five stars and would rent again.

Alison and Michelle, words are not enough to express how much we enjoyed our stay at Fox Den. We were looking for a place in the woods yet not to far from the city and this home was perfect. This home definitely exceeded our expectations! It's beautiful and spotlessly clean! Kitchen had everything we needed. My kids 6 and 8 loved having their own space. The home itself, treats and handwritten note made us feel very welcome. Alison and Michelle are there to respond to anything you may need during your stay. We will definitely be back. Thank you again from my family and friends 😊

This home should be at the top of your list for Pike’s Peak area vacation stays. It is brand new, spotlessly clean, and would be great for a couple or for a family with kids it is private, and although there are neighbors, there was zero noise. It is close to Woodland Park and area attractions, and right at the entrance to Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. The interior finishes are very high-end. It was so nice that we are considering a purchase of a home in this neighborhood. 5-Stars!
